The Conservatory of Music is excited to present 51 Orchestras concert in collaboration with the Black History Month at 51.
51’s Dr. Brittany Trotter performs Carlos Simon‘s "Movements for Flute and Orchestra." Simon, who holds the Composer Chair with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, is a composer-in-residence with the Kennedy Center.
The concert, including works by Jennifer Higdon and Alberto Ginastera, concludes with William Grant Still’s path-setting “Afro-American Symphony” (1930). Still is widely regarded as “the Dean of Afro-American Composers.”
Dr. , Chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, guest-conducts 51 Orchestras.
